Long Time, No Me

Well, ya know, I really was meaning to update my LJ earlier, but...

*insert excuses for laziness & ADD-ish behavior here*

Seriously, though, I was away for Easter - went to my grandma' as I do every year.  Her house is full of dust and I thought my awful scratchy throat and drippy nose was from that, but it turns out I was just coming down with the ( Read more... )

Hi stranger! Sorry I haven't been around for a while, but I see you haven't been either. Bummer about that long, drawn out cold. Fortunately, I only get a cold about every five years. *knocks on wood*

And au contraire....I think you verbalized beautifully. I'm glad you're looking forward to school so much. And I think you're absolutely right that meds with help with the ADD, anxiety, and everything that goes with it. It's really a shame you haven't been able to get that help in the past.

Yay! about selling the car and getting back into riding. Way to go! \O/

Well, hello there! It's so good to hear from you! How are you faring with the weather lately? My area in NY narrowly missed snow, but we're still getting hit hard with rain and wind...as usual...!

Well, I think spring has finally arrived. It was in the 70s yesterday, today, and is supposed to stay this way all week. But we still have snowbanks along the edge of the driveway because they were so high.

We were spared the worst of the last storm...just a lot of rain and a little wind. But there was a lot of flooding wind damage around us. Many people lost their electricity for three days because of all the trees that blew down, taking the wires with them. Even my friends in Europe heard about this storm on their news programs.

I'm going to NYC this Saturday for the premiere of Elijah's new movie, Day Zero and will be seeing several friends from LJ. It should be a fun trip. I won't be back on line until May 2nd or 3rd.

Get a salvage title car! Seriously. Dirt cheap. Just have a really good mechanic check it out beforehand and have him drive it, too.

That is a very interesting theory - I wonder about that myself. What distinguishes ADD and High Functioning Autism and related disorders, anyway? Is there physical evidence, like an MRI, or is it just more or less a list of sympotoms like ADD? I suspect my mom might have Aspergers, but I know better than to even go there with her :)

Horses don't like stepping on people too much, I don't think - but if they do, yell like hell and shove them right back off again! Durn big iron-shod hooves!

Well Autism research in terms of brain anatomy and activation patterns is still very much in its infancy. I think in my project I summed up pretty well where the state of affairs is right now. Mainly because Autism has such characteristic symptoms of social failure that it is easily diagnosed via symptoms, and any other attention problems are written off as secondary to whatever was wrong with their brains. Also in the case of ADD the school problems get the most attention and social failure is attributed to self esteem and not learning social cues because your not paying attention to them ( ... )

Aww, what a cute fjord you have there! I used to work with them and thought they were very cool. I'll have to drop in sometime, thanks!
