Summary: Why Foyet wears a mask
He hid his face for a number of reasons. First because it was practical, once the mask was removed, there was no physical evidence of his crimes on his face…the blood never reached his face. Also it prevented any attempts at self-defense by the victim. Most importantly though Foyet learned, long ago, that fear was in what was hidden and so what better way to strike fear into his victims than to hide as much of him as possible? A soft and friendly face wasn’t intimidating. Yet a black metal mask with no features, no emotions…that was downright terrifying.
