spending money, being verbose

I just spent more than 50 dollars that I don't really have on books. But...I started this tumblr look@libraries, and it's making me really nostalgic for the days of my golden youth when I would go into the basement YA lit section of my local library and come out with stacks of old books, the kind of stacks you need to tuck under your chin just to ( Read more... )

used copy for 1 cent!!!

hehe, I love amazon. Except the shipping usually costs more than the product, which is annoying. But anyway. BOOKS ARE LOVE, as you know.

I recently did a Firefly rewatch and was reminded how awesome Out of Gas was. The way Mal never gave up on Serenity, it's just...my heart.

I love Amazon ♥ but I only buy e-books there now, the shipping is so expensive internationally these days (for books, everything else is cheaper. Weird.)

I might have to check out a couple of the books you've mentioned ;D they sound interesting!

Hey! I just realized... can I gift you ebooks? Do you know?!

I...think so? *lol* I'm pretty sure there's a gift option when you go to buy them, not quite sure how it works there. I will have to investigate!

You realized we have all the Fire & Ice books, right?

Also, you should check out the basement of the Harvard Bookstore. They have a ton of used books for just a few bucks each. They have a pretty good fantasy section.

Have you read Gormenghast?

And while I'm lurking, is the Gormenghast series any good? I have the first book, and obviously haven't read it yet :P I also have the BBC mini series because it looked interesting...and haven't watched it either haha

I do not know if I would suggest reading or watching it first... they are very imaginative. I sort of love Steerpike even though he is a total little shit. I do not love him as much when JRM plays him. Ry and I went out and bought the entire series in one volume after seeing the BBC adaption - which is fantastic.

I like them... they are a bit wordy at times, but it's just such a strange, strange world. I would maybe suggest watching it first?

03. A Storm of Swords by George R. R. Martin
Third book in the Song of Ice and Fire series, continuing my journey (it's literally a journey, these books are incredibly dense, but highly recommended! I applaud Martin's liberal use of graphic sex, a pleasure missing from most fantasy).

Im reading the first one! It's sooooo goood! So far Jon Snows my favorite!

05. The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle
Apparently one of the Top 5 Fantasies of the century? Yes, please.

YES! YES A THOUSAND TIMES! Read it and LOVE it or we can no longer be friends! lol
