I LOVE Moon. I saw it last year when it was out in a ridiculously short theatre release here and I remember the first reaction I had was wanting to say thank you to someone, anyone, for the fact that intelligent science fiction still existed and could be as fantastic as this. And I don't think they had a huge budget and I love that it didn't need one. I loved that actual miniatures were used in the outside scenes and they worked so well! It can still be done! That moment when Gerty's 'face' changed to sad and he patted Sam on the shoulder had me in tears. I am so glad that you liked it.

I didn't know those were miniatures!!! That's really amazing!! I was doing some research (because that's what I do when I'm obsessed) and found out they shot it in 33 DAYS for 5 million. I pretty much officially love everything about this film

I basically love everything about that movie. I love how genuine it was, not relying on special effects and focusing on just a few central characters. And Sam Rockwell was just amazing, playing against himself.

+1 to everything you said. And the thing about Penny's last name feels like a joke that's gone on way too long, which is sad.

I seem to be able to write better when I have a deadline, like help_japan, or bigbangbigbang (which I have open in another window, but I'm doing that thing where I just edit the same sentence twenty seven times instead of just writing). It's different having to write to a schedule instead of relying on those (rare) bursts of inspiration.

Deadlines definitely help, but I still feel like I end up just throwing up words onto the page and it's not my best work. I need to train myself to sit through the misery until I find something I really love, you know? And I'm just not in the headspace to do that right now. I think I'm getting there though. Soon.

I also find that having a writing partner reaallyyyy helps me. When you hit a wall you can just whine about it until you get new material, lol. I usually write with one of my friends, but she's going through finals lately, so we haven't been able to get together lately. Which means I've written absolutely nothing. I think that's a crutch I shouldn't have to use though, there might not always be someone around to help me write.

/rambling, sorry! I was mostly just talking to myself there. :)
