“Someone asked me today when my last kiss was.”
Yunho stared at Junsu for a minute.
“You mean your first kiss.”
“No, that’s just it!” Junsu flailed. “My *last* kiss! I was totally unprepared.”
Changmin set a bowl of rice in front of each hyung seated at the dining table.
“Did they mean your most recent kiss or did they mean your *last* kiss?” he asked, placing Junsu’s chopsticks and spoon on the table.
Junsu didn’t respond as he was shoveling food in his mouth.
Instead, Yunho asked: “What’s the difference?”
“Your most recent kiss is your most recent kiss,” Yoochun pointed out, “but if you like being super literal like Changminnie your *last* kiss is technically the last kiss you’ll ever have.” He made a broad gesture to indicate ‘foreeeever’, chopsticks still in hand until Changmin gave him a disapproving look and pulled them out of his grasp. “But that wouldn’t really make sense because who could answer that? Oh, or maybe it could mean the last kiss of his most recently terminated relationship? That’s extra specific…”
Yunho stared at Yoochun.
Changmin shrugged, sat down and started eating.
Jaejoong came in on the tail end of the conversation, set the final dish in the center of the table, then leaned over to kiss Junsu full on the lips.
“There.” He sat back in his seat, completely nonchalant like he hadn’t just sexually harassed his groupmate. “Next time someone asks, you can say it was ‘yesterday, at dinner’.”
Yoochun shook his head.
“No good, hyung. That *might* take care of ‘most recent kiss’, but it’s definitely not going to be his last, last kiss.”
Yunho arched a brow and Jaejoong looked quite put out.
“Why not?” he asked.
“I can make it his last, last kiss,” Changmin raised his fist in a threatening manner.
Yunho slapped his arm.
“Well, for one thing, anyone can kiss him from now until the next time someone asks this question. And I highly doubt Junsu wants the last kiss of his life to be that halfhearted peck, so he’s bound to find someone else to kiss soon.”
Jaejoong looked appalled.
“We’re together, like, twenty-four hours a day. Who’s kissing Junsu before tomorrow’s taping?”
Junsu pointed at Yoochun with his chopsticks.
Changmin reached over and yanked them out of his hand with an indignant huff.
“Stop waving your chopsticks around, you uncouth barbarians!”
“He needs a kiss,” Yunho said to Jaejoong, jerking his head at Changmin.
And so Jaejoong leaned over and kissed Changmin, earning himself a hard punch in return.
He punched him back.
Yunho stared at the ceiling, his dinner forgotten.
Oddly enough, but not really unexpectedly, the topic came up at the next day’s interview.
“Junsu-sshi, when was your last kiss?”
“This morning!” he replied, beaming brightly.
The host looked taken aback.
“What, really?” he blurted out.
“The other members were wrestling in the dressing room while we were waiting and Yunho-hyung fell on me. You’d never believe it, but his face smooshed right into mine. Lip-to-lip.” Junsu laughed his signature laugh and everyone present laughed with him, writing off the anecdote as one of Junsu’s random babbles.
Meanwhile, their manager and one of the production staff sat in the editing booth carefully cutting and pasting the footage so that it looked like Junsu had just responded with a laugh because while fanservice was good, sometimes the boys just crossed the line.
“When was your last kiss, Manager-sshi?” the PD asked.
The poor DBSK manager sighed. “You wouldn’t believe it, but it was also this morning in the dressing room. For some reason Jaejoong started prancing around kissing everyone. It’s what instigated the wrestling match.”
