To be honest I learned a lot more from your reply to the pickpocket story about what you disliked in this - namely a lack of story and the fact that it is too "serious" or "dense". The piece is what it is - there's no dishonour in being rejected for things I consciously aimed for.

Hello. I keep meaning to post a response to this. You are a strong writer, obviously, but too much is packed into this piece for it to be flash fiction but the piece is too short to be a short story and subsequently I'm not sure how to proceed. So for now, I'm abstaining. If you've written a longer story, I'd be very curious to see that.
