Title: kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep
Fandom: Supernatural
Prompt: By vail_kagami at the AU Lucifer/Sam comment-fic meme. I'm going to be deliberately vague; if you are really curious, the prompt itself is here.
Summary: Sam's supposed to be lucky. He doesn't really feel it until Nick starts paying attention to him, though. AU from somewhere in S6.

This is actually terrifying. It seems to me like a perfect use of the prompt. I spent the whole thing so afraid for Sam and even, in an odd sort of way, afraid *with* him. The way his instincts were all screaming away but he just didn't KNOW, and didn't know how to listen, and argh, really, this is a pretty amazing thing.

Eee, thank you so much! I have grown to love writing horror more and more every time I try it, and yes, exactly - this was really fun because I was trying to communicate everything that was going on even while Sam didn't know most of what was going on. A bit of a challenge, but fun.

Thank you for commenting! I'm glad you enjoyed this one. It was...altogether too much fun to write. (What does this say about me, I don't even know.)

People who say they write Stockholm Syndrome fic should come and read this so they can see how it's done.

(Realize that it's not actually Stockholm Syndrome but it reads a lot like it and is exceptionally creepy the way other fics claiming to be so most assuredly are not.)

In conclusion: damn.

Eeee you say the nicest things to me, always. And I got a rec! And - it has taken me so long to reply here because I am seriously overwhelmed at the response to this. Was not expecting that!

The prompt just grabbed me and would not let go, I swear. I am glad I managed the creepy vibe I was going for here.

Thank you so much!

o.OOOO

Holy crap. Yes, that's a good holy crap, but I don't know what to say. That scared me to death! DEAN WHERE ARE YOU PLEASE FIX IT.

Ugh, I don't really mean that, because this is an amazing piece of horror, and doesn't need to be "fixed," but I hope you know what I mean.

:D?

Thank you! I DO NOT KNOW WHERE DEAN IS. PROBABLY SOMEWHERE FREAKING THE FUCK OUT, POOR BOY.

I would kind of like this to be fixed. So yes, I totally know what you mean. XD Thank you for commenting! That is...rather the reaction I was going for, I suppose.

That was so much better than I imagined it would be. It gave me chills - they way you describe the world through Sam's eyes, like there's something fundamentally wrong with it that he can't put his finger on, is absolutely disturbing. His being so torn about "Nick" who feels so brilliantly off her, his nightmares . it leaves a distinct feeling on unreality that leads to a feeling of him not being quite sane, or him needing someone to take care of him and protect him. Someone other than Nick.

And Lucifer with his possessiveness was simply creepy.

Thank you so much for writing this!

I am just going to roll happily around in your nice words and be cheered by your niceness. This was...altogether too much fun to write, playing with the wrongness just under the surface that Sam doesn't quite get and oh god, yes, Sam needs someone so bad here. Who isn't Nick.

Lucifer's possessiveness is really really fun to write, don't you know.

You're welcome! Thank you for prompting something so thoroughly inspiring.
