Thanks for this story. My first car -- many years ago -- was a 1966 Chevy Belair, that I called Betsy. Not a real original name for the car, which by today's standards had a helluva lot of power (V-8). But she was mine, and she was semi-reliable, and it was awfully nice having my own car. So even though I would never want to drive that car again, I do think back on her with a lot of sentiment. Modern cars are more convenient and comfortable (air conditioning!!!, rear view cameras, etc.) but Betsy was a beast and we will not see her like again except in 'vintage' cars.
