Although my trip to Switzerland happened over a month ago, I took the precaution of jotting down some notes on paper (!!!) while things were happening, since I didn’t have internet access; thus the lateness of this entry. I know that it would be like bringing your work with you on vacation, but I'm still a little surprised that you didn't have your violin with you.

Was it not worth bringing based on cost-to-bring/chance-of-use?

Well I brought my violin with me to Switzerland for the sake of playing the concert, but I didn't bring it with me while I was walking around Zurich playing tourist. For one thing, the case weighs about 10 pounds! And generally bringing an instrument to the opera when you're not in the symphony is frowned upon... :)
