Naw, I think "on accident" is still colloquial and not yet proper grammar. I've only heard it in casual speech. As for NPR, in what context did you hear it?

Reporter talking about some news story, just very casually mentioned that something or other was on accident, but...etc. Oddly I don't remember the exact context, but remember exactly where I was driving at the time!

Hi! I am reading this on a somewhat ancient computer myself (OS 9). I love this OS for the simple reason that there are hardly any viri for it! :)

We had a dandy one last fall. Whenever we went to Google, there was some fairly racy dating site that came up - you can imagine how popular that might be in a school- but I don't think the kids actually saw it. I turned off the computer and reported the problem. The computer guys were at the school at the time upgrading our wiring or something and eventually they fixed the problem. We now use Yahooligans and AskJeeves for Kids and the like. Good grief!

By the way, printer and computer worked out their differences and are cooperating beautifully today! We just don't know if we can get any more toner cartridges for it when the current one runs out. It's always something.

Anyone have access to about 20 medicine droppers?

my guess is that "on" accident evolved from the its opposite, on purpose.. so if a kid didn't do it on purpose, he did it on accident.
