Hm. Well, I ship Elinor/Brandon because that's...what I saw when reading the book. I hadn't seen the movie, knew nothing about the book. So, I had no preconceptions of the characters or pairings. I was literally shocked when Elinor and Brandon didn't wind up together; I loved them so much.
It's not a popular opinion, but I've found a couple others out there who agree with me. So I'm not completely alone. :)
Hmm, well now that I'm thiking about it, I can easily see where one might garner that impression while reading the book for the first time. :)
I mean, after she and Edward part, he's missing from the story for AGES, and Marianne is off in Willoughbyland, and in the latter half of the story, we do see Elinor and Brandon getting very close...and then you have Elinor's brother assuming that she and Brandon are an "item". There are definite hints.
See, I saw the movie multiple times for years before reading the book last summer for the first time. So I knew what was coming. And I do quite like Elinor/Edward..however, now that I'm thinking over the matter, I think I could easily go with Elinor/Brandon too. ♥
I tell ya..S&S is definitely different from her other works with the relationships. It's much more complicated then it is in, say, Pride & Prejudice.
Okay, how much do I love that you included Jo/Laurie! I get a little sad every time I think of it- SO MUCH POTENTIAL THERE D: Actually, I think of all the things you've mentioned, the stuff that I've seen/read, we ship so much of the same stuff, it's uncanny!
Agreed! I loved them so much. I grew up on the June Allyson version of the movie, and when I was younger, I could never understand why didn't end up with him. They were just so fabulous. ♥ I still wish they would have. I mean, I get the smarter-older-man thing and all. But, just. No.
Ahaha, that's not surprising, given what we've found in common so far. :D But it's still pretty fantastic.
I just read this list now for some reason (I was rereading your sidebar quote cause why not lol and this caught my eye) and it is amazing! I should probably make one LOL.
Thanks! :) I'm pretty proud of it. I spent entirely too much time on it, LOL. I've had a ship list for forever (well, since January of 2009, I guess), but this is the revamped version 2.0.
THAT QUOTE WILL NEVER GET OLD.
And yes, you should make one! They're so much fun to make, as well as fun to read.

I was just skimming the fandom/ship list here to see if you'd added anything. :)
I'm very curious:why do you ship Elinor/Brandon in S&S?
I haven't ever seen anyone go that route before.
