I'd tell you to read the book first but considering you watched the first three Harry Potter films before picking up a book in that series I'll concede now and just be happy you're going to watch its amazingness.

It's this new mini series Starz produced based on the (simply amazing) novel by Ken Follet. It takes place in the 12th century and centers around the construction of a cathedral so I guess it could be fantasy... if you squinted... really hard. ;)

ps I went for a run today

SO PRETTY! Now that she's off searching for him, they can be hotties in hoods! Because as they say "The couple that looks good in forest green cloaks together, stays together!"

Re: the books, is the rape scene long? I don't think I'd like to read it or anything else like Alfred's violence towards Aliena. Maybe I shall just have to be happy with pretty people with accents on my screen.

Green is such a great color with red hair too. And they're pretty. AND WE NEED TO SEE JACK HOLDING A BABY!

As for the book (cause the sequel takes place like 200 years later) I believe the rape scene is around half a chapter to a chapter at the very most, including Richard's ear getting hacked off and that stuff. I mean it was memorable because it was a defining moment for the character not necessarily for its longevity. Also same with Alfred being violent toward her. From what I recall he was actually more scared and less violent in the book. It's been about two years since I read it so I could be wrong but yeah, Alfred was sort of a non-issue after the chapter of the their wedding night. It's a HUGE book but Ken Follett doesn't go into any more detail then is necessary on any aspect of the story including violence. It's there because it was a part of the time but it's not gratuitous if that helps. He's no Terry. ;)

It's probably the most well told story I've ever read.
