so i don't know how many people know about this, but today there was a "content strike" by a lot of livejournal users, to protest the removal of the "free, non ad-supported" account option (if you really want all the whiny bullshit, some of it is here). new users can still start livejournals without paying, they just have to look at a couple of ads

all you REALLY have to tttttdo oto get around it is customize your own layout and then remove the ad code from the html ( or whatever) code.
ive been doing it on some of my beta sites for quite some time.
