On Fans

i was thinking recently on how fans effect the works they are fans of, and while generally having support for any work of media is a good thing as it allows for the creator to have a commercial reason to continue the work, fans can be detrimental to a body of work as well.

a couple of examples of detrimental fnas include the star wars, star trek ( Read more... )

THIS.

I loved the Hetalia fandom when it was still small and attracted so much awesome people. Now, it's HUGE and full of (well, still awesome people but also) fangirls who mostly are just there for the slash and pretty boys and it's gotten so bad that I mostly don't even mention to like that fandom anymore. So sad :(

yeah that is the problem with most fandoms specific to anime. if its not obscure and small then you get rabid fangrils with maybe two viable brain cells between them all....

...or conversely you get the perverts you know are jacking off at the back of room when anime is shown at conventions....the perverts however come with anything that could remtoley be seen as "wank" material.

lately even the hint of homoeroticism (THATS WHAT IT IS YOU YAYOI DUMB ASSES) and you get retarded fangirl perverts you know are wanking off in the dark corners of the room when the series in question is shown at conventions... and they still only ever have two viable braincells between the entire bunch xD

which is sad cause they make the normal fans that appreciate the work look bad, and it make it harder for the series to gain new ones.

hence why lately i have gone into obscure as hell anime... and avoid watching it in dark rooms at conventions....
