Had a good run, got lovely and sweaty but for now I'm going to catch a shower and then go catch Hayden. Because you know haven't seen or heard from him for so long, a girl worries over things like this.

Wish me luck?

-------------------

Kris after her jog had grabbed herself a shower and a fresh set of clothes, a new pair of pants and a vest, before she had hurried out of the warehouse slipping on her flip flops as she went. She tossed her dark hair over her shoulders and slipped on her shades, making quick progress towards Epicenter. She could do this sure, yeah of course, looking at Epicenter for a moment. She took a deep breath in before opening up the door and glancing around.

Hayden glanced up from the counter, watching as Kris entered. He looked down again quickly. His heart thumped at her arrival... He felt like he hadn't seen her in ages. His brain cringed, and he wondered how long he could keep his current activities a secret. He cleared his throat. "Hey..."

Kris gave him a small smile as she answered," Hey." Yes, that was her heart thudding quickly and erratically against her chest, why was she so nervous again? Oh yeah, that's right, the whole deal with Orion and the not telling Hayden thing. Shaking the thoughts off," Hows you? Business good?" Oh boy, talk about lame.

Hayden's eyebrows drew together briefly before he tugged at his shirt with one hand and swept his hair behind his ear with the other. "Business is good... Got a big commission today. Bunch of girls from some sorority came in to get inked." He shrugged. "You?"

" Paranoid." Kris replied honestly with a shrug," Mostly bored though."

Hayden walked around the counter, then leaned his back against it, crossing his ankles. "Why paranoid?"

Kris smirked lightly, tipping her head to the side, as she did, a few strands of dark hair fell across her shades," Just residual stuff. No big, I mean, not like I have any reason to be paranoid. Slayer senses are on overdrive or something, no big I'm sure." Hmm who was she trying to convince, Hayden or herself?

Hayden nodded, not sure he understood but feeling a deep kinship with her words. "Paranoia and you're not sure if it's justified. Yeah... I've um... been there myself."

" Really?" Kris asked, narrowing her eyes at Hayden. Did he mean recently or way way back in the past?

Realizing he may have alerted her to his current situation, he retreated and went back around the counter. "You know... residual Brotherhood stuff. Never good to have a bunch of crazed religious fanatics as your enemies. But no big deal."

Kris arched an eyebrow, that was a rather hasty retreat. She shrugged her shoulders, wandering over to lean against it," Well you do know, if you need any help with them or anything.." She stressed the anything in her sentence," I'm here for you."

Hayden met her eyes, then blinked at studied the countertop. "Seems to me like sharing information is something on which we could both use some work." After the words were in the air, he wished he could suck them back in, as defensive as they sounded.

Kris hissed in a breath as he said that, her eyes flashed with hurt before she nodded, shrugging her shoulders," Yeah..sure." She had a sudden flush of heat, the kind that usually came with an emotional response well an unexpected one.

Hayden didn't know how to take back his words without revealing his plans, but he did know he needed to do something. The trouble was, as much as he loved Kris and wanted to share things with her, he didn't want to put her in even more danger than she'd experienced lately. He finally replied, "I'm sorry... I know you didn't think it was important to share at the time. I'm on edge because of a phone call from my uncle in Greece. He said some things that dug up bad memories."

Kris nodded her head, before her hurt expression took on a concerned appearance," You going to be okay?" She didn't like it when Hayden was upset, she loved him, so that explained it all really but most of all, she saw him as a good friend as well as her lover, and friends always came first on her priority list.

"I think I am, yeah. I just need to tie up some loose ends. Then everything will be fine." He swallowed and smiled. Tie up loose ends? Infiltrating the mafia to avoid being targeted, double-crossing for demon information, and he was tying up loose ends? Hayden had a feeling this was one loose end he'd never be able to tie.

She knew Hayden wasn't lying to her, he was simply leaving something out, she could tell by the look in his eyes but if he didn't want to tell her, she wouldn't push," Just as long as those loose ends don't end, with you getting hurt." She remarked in a very serious tone, a hand moved to slide her shades down her nose before resting them atop of her head so she could meet his eyes and he could see how seriously she took him getting hurt by anything or anyone, which was very serious.

He reached out and smoothed her hair and gave her a slight smile. "I'm gonna be fine, Kris."

Kris turned her head to place a kiss to his wrist lightly," You'd better be, or I'm going to kick your ass myself." She commented with a smirk.

He smiled, then leaned over the counter and gave her a quick kiss. The bell on the door rang as a customer entered and began to look around. He lifted an eyebrow and said, "Gotta get back to it. Listen, if you want to patrol later or something..?"

" Sounds great." Kris affirmed with a nod," You, me, weapons and demons. Talk about a fun night out." She winked, giving him a quick kiss in return before sliding her shades back on," I'll see you soon." With that, she winked and turned to head out of the Epicenter.
