Surprisingly, the kids hadn't been hard to get to sleep. At least not hard considering Christmas was the following morning and they'd been jumping around the house like it was going out of style. Nonetheless, Ginny and Harry had herded them off to bed like little sheeplings and they'd gone without complaining. (James had complained, but that was par for the course

Ginny had wrapped the present carefully, very unlike the mess she'd made with Harry's, but she had a soft spot for Rose- her favorite brother's daughter. Tying the tag onto the bow she surveyed her handiwork. It didn't look half bad considering she'd done it by hand- she'd always been crap at wrapping presents with magic, choosing to take the Muggle route with all kinds of different papers and ribbons and bows.

She was a bit of a dork about it. Imagine Sirius' shopping glee transformed into wrapping glee. (Take that Martha Stewart.)

The present was a book, a diary really, with a soft leather cover- dark blue with Rose's name imprinted on the cover in gold letters that sparkled when held up in the right light. In the front cover Ginny had written her a note.
