Traveling alone. There's something I never really thought about, until I was reading a travel journal that brought the point up. The writer was extolling the virtues of traveling alone after having gone on a trip with a friend. As I was thinking about it, the concept threw me off a bit. I don't know how comfortable I would be traveling alone. I think a lot might depend on the distance. If I were in the tri-state area or something, I might be OK with it. But if I were to go to a foreign country by myself, I don't think I'd be comfortable at all...unless it was some sort of contained situation, like going on a cruise or going to stay at a resort or something. You'd be traveling "alone" but you would have other travelers around ( ... )

oh, audience feedback!

i have never traveled alone, but have not done much traveling in general. the idea of it sounds cool to me in certain parts of the world like europe or some parts of asia. but i have weird fears and in certain parts of the world i definitely would want a buddy.

Yes, and I love it. Most of the time I've met up with someone at my destination, but I truly enjoy making the journey there and back alone. It's really the sense of independence that I get when boarding the train or waiting in the airport bar for my flight. Also, as an observer by nature, I appreciate the time left alone to absorb my new surroundings.

Since you already know about my infrequent trips to the lunch room between the hours of 12 and 2, I'm sure my answer was somewhat predictable. ;)
