Did you know there's a bird of prey called a secretary bird for how ridiculous it looks? It's actually extremely dangerous though. In my time, the surface of the planet has been mapped entirely. Ah, but as far as every single island and square meter, non; we know where it is, it is just a matter of getting there.

I'm afraid the age of exploration is long over, but what an exciting time it was! I had colonies across the Earth, far from my house.

Colonies? I hear this mentioned a lot. Though coming from my world, it still seems strange that so much of yours is mapped, but you don't have a World Government uniting everyone, eh.

What were your colonies like France?

Non! We fight too much and we are too proud to unite that way. Some of us have tried but--ah-- [Wow so many potential awkward subjects there. He's just going to skip to the best part:]

Eh, the countries in my world hardly like each other, either. They've all got their ancient enmities, but the World Government stops them from warring. I think it might be a "continent" thing though. Since my world is all island.

Ah, I haven't yet. Is he like America? I would think he'd be hard to miss then.

I used to be his colony but now I'm independent and he still treats me like a baby. He's just, how should I fucking explain it, he's always so god damn cheerful.

It's like you can punch him in the face and he will still smile. It's almost like he's regressed into a child since I grew up, dammit.

Maybe he just really likes you as a parent would.

Fathers always look after their children, no matter how violent and troublesome the kid is.
