I've been sucked into following the US election. Well: sort of. I found the map on ABC this morning (it was empty), went out, came back, checked the map again and voila! blue.
Well: I would if I didn't have uni stuff to do (and wasn't halfway across the world), but it's the thought that counts. I'll settle by watching his acceptance speech on YouTube.
(Also: holy crap, this isn't even a close election, is it? I'm watching the map, and it's just getting more and more blue.)
doesn't the ruling party gerrymander in their "own" favor? how come the popular vote is so close but electoral college showing such a big margin /puzzle
It's not actually that close, is it? Something like nearly 5 million votes difference.
'Sides, remember how it works - even if one party only wins by a slim margin, they get all the electoral votes for the state. The Presidency can be won without winning the popular vote.

'Sides, remember how it works - even if one party only wins by a slim margin, they get all the electoral votes for the state. The Presidency can be won without winning the popular vote.
