"Yo! Ryo-chan~" Yuto hugged Yamada by his shoulder.
"Ah! Yuto! How many times have I told you not to do that...?" Yamada pushed Yuto off him.
"Mou~ We've known each other for five years" Yuto pouted.
"We're in public... Plus! I'm not your boyfriend!" Yamada pointed out.
Some of the girls in Yamada's class exiting the school saw the quarrel. They whispered to each other and giggled before saying goodbye to Yamada. Yamada bid them goodbye and glared at Yuto, meeting his pout.
"Why are you here?" Yamada glared at Yuto.
"Waiting to go home with you of course." Yuto replied happily.
"Didn't I tell you before not to wait for me after school?” Yamada soften. "Your school is far from here."
"I want to wait for you. I just want to go home with Ryo-chan~~" and by that note, he pounced on Yamada, grabbing his arm and leaned towards him.
"You could have taken the bus straight home instead of walking here and waiting for me..." Yamada pulled away slightly, while trying to push Yuto as far away as possible.
Yuto had been keeping his promise to stay by Yamada's side. Although he was tired everyday during school, he would always be the first to leave the classroom when the bell rings. He would run to take the bus and walk to Yamada's school to wait for the boy.
Yamada felt happy that Yuto had been there for him through the years. On rainy days, he would always find Yuto waiting for him at the school gate with an umbrella to bring him home. On days that he had soccer practices, he would find Yuto sitting on one of the benches watching him play equipped with a bottle of water for him to drink during his breaks.
“Ryo-chan…” Yuto called his name softly.
“Nani?” “Let’s go to the playground for a while.”
Yamada stopped in his tracks and looked at Yuto.“Why?”
“I just want to go there for a while.”
“Okay…”
When they reached the playground, Yamada sat at his usual swing. He didn’t notice that Yuto was gone. After he settled down, he looked around and wondered where Yuto went to.
“Yuto?” Yamada called out. “It’s not funny! Yuto!”
There wasn’t any answer and Yamada started to get worried.
“Yuto! Where are you?! Come out.” Yamada shouted as he searched around the area. “I don’t want to play anymore!”
Still, there wasn’t any answer.
“Did he leave me here?” Yamada wondered. “Mou! He said he wanted to go to the playground but he left me here.”
Yamada pouted. “Baka Yuto! I’m going home!”
He was about to leave when he felt arms wrapped around his waist. “Ryo-chan”
“Let me go.” Yamada whined.
“Let’s just stay like this for a while. Please.” Yuto whispered softly.
“Yuto…” Yamada tears were already blurring his vision. “Yuto baka.”
Yuto felt a droplet on his arms. He turned Yamada around and found the latter crying. Kissing the tears away, he hugged the other tightly.
“I thought you left without me.” Yamada laid his head on Yuto’s chest and hugged him tightly.
“You know I would never leave you alone.” Yuto hugged Yamada back.
“Are you still waiting for me?” Yamada asked Yuto.
“Un. I will wait for you till you say you love me.”
“That’s all I needed to hear.” Yamada smiled. Yamada wrapped his arm around Yuto’s neck and tiptoed before placing a kiss on Yuto’s lips.
The moment that Yuto had been waiting for was how he imagined it would be. They pulled apart for air but remained in the same position.
“I love you, Yuto,” Yamada looked into Yuto’s eyes and confessed.
Yuto was beyond happiness when he heard the words he had been longing to hear. He lifted Yamada completely off the ground and twirled him around to show his happiness. When Yamada was put back down, he had to hold onto Yuto to balance himself.
“Now I’m dizzy.” Yamada whined.
Yuto bend down and kissed Yamada’s forehead.
“I love you too, Ryo-chan!” They looked into each other’s eyes before sharing a loving kiss. It was short but both knew how much love was being shared without words being spoken.
“Just to show how serious I am about you…” Yuto took something from inside his pocket and slipped it on Yamada’s finger.
“Marry me.”
“Yuto…” Yamada was shocked. “This… Isn’t it too fast?”
“It’s been five years Ryo-chan.” Yuto smiled sweetly.
“Still… Our parents…”
“They know. I’ve told them.” Yuto cut Yamada. “Everyone’s waiting for us at home right now.”
“Wait! What?!” Yamada was too shocked.
Yuto laughed at his lover, soon-to-be wife, and smiled sweetly. Yamada heart still did a flip seeing the smile he fell in love with since the first time.
“Let’s go home” Yuto held out his hand.
“Alright.” Yamada took hold of Yuto’s hand.
They intertwined their fingers and just like how Yuto had imagined it would be, “It fits perfectly.”
