I see dead people...(and pay 25K a year to do it)

So today was my first day of anatomy lab. I'll be honest, i was a little freaked out about it.  I mean, I've seen a dead body, what? Two times in my life? Both times the bodies were fully clothed and made up to look presentable (funerals).  So today was a bit of a wild card...I'd already been feeling nausiated (thanks KK)  from being in so much ( Read more... )

I think whatever the meal you eat after your first anatomy lab will ALWAYS remind you of the body in some way. Mine was swedish meatballs... I think it says something that I still remember that after seven years.

yes well. The "splash back" (which was added just now to the entry via edit) was ESPECIALLY appealing :(

But I didn't faint, and I didn't get sick. So I'm pretty excited about that.

The ladies with painted nails really got to me too. Some how, that was the one thing that really made those people real to me. Though my cadaver, Ace, had a pretty cool tattoo. He was a really cool guy to work with.

Oh, and the cadaver juice? Welcome to the club. :-P I dropped my glasses in the body on at least one occasion that i can recall. :-P Not fun. Then again, the large majority of the dissecting in our group fell to me, so I can recall many days spent with my head/arms quite a bit further into our guy's abdominal/pelvic cavity than I'd have ever predicted.

And I must be the exception - my friends and I were always starving (during and) after anatomy lab. Only exception is the week I went grocery shopping after dissecting the thorax - I saw ribs in the meat case and felt a bit ill.
