So, I tell my former job (because I am still honest) that I was accepted for disability and that I will be receiving payments soon. They, in their infinate wisdom sent me a bill for $18,064 due in 14 days (or a penalty of $140 a day) for money they have paid me over the time period of the last 18 months

No.. that's something you can take to court. Honestly speaking, you were working before they where told you were accepted for disablity. In short, that's a problem on their part. They can't bill you for it after you've left and because you've been accepted.

I mean this too, this is something you'd wanna take up with a lawyer.

Its better than that. On the first of the year they let me go saying i as no longer needed - hence the 'former job'
I was disabled in Dec, so it seems to me like they got rid of me once they discovered I wa disabled but I cant prove that.

my current employer is letting me this week. they say they can't afford to pay me.I have also been havong trouble with my hands and sometime i can;t do anything. I'm starting to see more tumors on my feet and it really hurts. I have been told I need to file for disbility but I don't know where to start. Pay them back for time put in. that is B.S. I'm not talking bachlor of science either.
