synopsis:
Cook meets Lionel at the Grove, the most notorious place in the school where people go in and hook up with strangers. It's Lionel's first time and he is intrigued by Cook, so they hook up. Afterwards, during theatre, Cook, who has obviously took the rendezvous as more than was intended, pops up and disturbs rehearsal and not so subtly tells Lionel he'll be expecting him back. While Lionel still wants Cook, he's pretty sure it's just a phase. But his needs get the better of him and he seeks out Cook again for another 'meeting' and Cook happily obliges. A while after their second time, Cook, who has fallen for Lionel, decides to go ahead and woo him, which Lionel finds incredibly weird and irritating. After getting a dozens of calls, roses and gateau's, Lionel goes ahead decides to try a relationship with Cook. Cook is surprised when Lionel starts responding to his actions. He even asks Lionel if he's just fucking with him. To prove his intentions, Lionel breaks into Cook's house, telling him that he wants to see if they will work. A few months after third meeting, Lionel and Cook's relationship is at its high point. Everything is fine and dandy, until Cook lets out those three words and finds out that Lionel doesn't feel the same. He leaves.
Lionel starts to look at other boys, particularly a guy named Marshall. They start to talk and eventually become friends, which makes Cook jealous. Cook, who chose to ignore Lionel's nonexistent declaration of love, and Lionel, as ignorant as Cook on the subject, get into a fight. Lionel finally has had it and tells Cook that he thinks all the compliments and the damned "I fucking love you" are all bullshit. Cook responds with a tearful "I can't stand the way you're fucking looking at him", telling Lionel that he's never looked at him the same way.
But Lionel keeps on hanging out with Marshall and Cook is almost at the edge. The day finally comes where Lionel confronts Cook and tries to end the relationship. Cook is stubborn, kissing Lionel one last time as if to prove something. He does prove that between them, there's still something. He could see it in Lionel's eyes, and Lionel doesn't get why he still feels that way. There's still that care for Cook and his heart still beats fast whenever he kisses him. But Lionel has made up his mind, and he tells Cook, with evident uncertainty that it's over, while Cook just looks at him, sure that it's not.
