Doesn't say switch to old version on the top of your home page? Awhile ago I tried the new then switched back to the old version.

Nope, no way to go back. I read further and it appears everyone will be there soon. Oh well.

When it says "feed" in your toolbar, change that to "friends" and it will go back to the old style. It's a pain to do it by hand, but I hate the new version and do it every time.

I am not seeing what you describe.
Is an LJ toolbar needing to be downloaded and installed first?

Sorry, wrong terminology.

I use Firefox to read my LJ. I meant to say search bar: the space where it says www.livejournal or in this case

When you log in to your personal LJ, on the new version, you click friends feed. It takes you to your friends page. In the search bar, change the word "feed" to "friends" and refresh your page. It should change to the old version.

My LJ went to new version today. I went to account settings and at the bottom of the list was a box for old version, I checked the box and it changed back to the old version. Try it.
