Back from patrol in Rukongai. Was three days ago, actually, but was laid out due to heroic injuries incurred in the line of duty. First smart-ass with snide commentary on said injuries gets to test just how well my hands have healed.

The boyfriend was considering treating the girlfriend to some sushi and cherry cakes since he's subsisted on Fourth cuisine and is frankly sick of a wholesome and balanced diet meant to speed his recovery. The hands are really sorta marginal at this point in the plan.

There was a really big Hollow and all its friends. And I missed its mask by a little bit.

A little bit as in my sword kinda sheared the edge of the mask, and I overextended the blow, and the Hollow did this snapping head movement and chomped down on my hands. On the hilt of said sword. Eight broken fingers.

Yeah, laugh away, I know it's stupid.

So what did you do to yourself and will it interfere with your presence at a party in the near-to-immediate future?

I'm back on my feet (and hands) and on duty, but I might have some evening leave lined up. And I might be persuaded to spend it on a party, i.e. you bet your ass I will.

As for the heroic injuries, it's kind of a long story. You might need to get me a drink first.

There's a good place in the Northern Fifteenth. I'd take you up on that tomorrow, but there's someplace I got to be. I made a promise. So, if I make it back okay, Sunday night work for you?

My sister went back to Karakura and school, but I had to promise she'd get to visit again soon, see Ganjuu too, so on. I told her no ditching class to gallivant about in the afterlife 'til she's sixteen, so that buys me a few more months.

...Right. Well, I just got my hands back, no intention to carry on the pun, so I'm as good to go as can be. You might want to pass a note to Vice-Captain Iba that you're borrowing me, though, dereliction of duty is a thorny issue. Or then I could ask if I can move my weekend leave up, that works, too.

Guess you caught me. What can I say? With my track record and file at the Fourth, I think dating a doctor might just be one of those rare smart moves I make. Ah, sorry I didn't say anything sooner.
