So the latest news in the trial of Adler Volmer is that he's getting six months time and five years probation.
I am absolutely disgusted, although not surprised. Our star athletes are given even more social leeway and privilege than most men. There's also the attempted (and failed) slut-shaming used by the prosecutor to add to the heap of awful.
This man raped a child and got away with a slap on the wrist. He would not have gotten away with it if it weren't for our rape culture and the fact that he was a star athlete.
The USJA and USJF have both expelled him, but 24 Hour Fitness still lists him as a sponsor. I urge everyone to not work out at their chain until he's removed.
