Broken Boys: the new ending
This is the new ending for Broken Boys, which leads into Pride of the Peacock.
Ten, Jack, Rose. PG for violence.
Jack explodes into the hospital room, holding a Venator plasma rifle. Lyt is there. He's standing behind the Doctor, gripping both of the Time Lord's arms behind his back; from the angle, Jack can tell his hands must be tied. There's something wrapped around the Doctor's eyes; Jack realises he's blindfolded with his own torn and bloody tie.
'Back on your feet, beautiful?' says Lyt. His glance makes Jack feel sick. The Doctor's blind head comes up. 'Jack! Stay away, stay back.' Jack takes a bead on the Vampire's blond head, just a narrow cutting beam, but of course the Doctor's in the way. 'Let him go!'
'Back off, boy. You're not going to drill your general.'
'Do it!' snaps the Doctor. 'Jack, just do it, better you than-'
Lyt grabs the Doctor under the chin and wrenches his head back, cutting him off. 'Go ahead,' he says cheerfully. 'Kill him.'
Jack wavers, still looking for a clean shot at Lyt, then lowers his gun. Under his fury, he notes distantly how strong Lyt must be to hold the enraged and struggling Doctor. 'There's no point to this. The Venators will never let you get away. You think they'll let a hostage get between them and you?'
'A hostage?' Lyt smiles in disbelief. 'You think I'd waste him as a hostage? No, no, no - he's coming with me.'
Jack doesn't want to say the word 'Why?' but it slips out. Then, stupidly, he wants to shout 'Don't answer me!', but Lyt, his chin resting insolently on the Doctor's shoulder, knowing he can dodge back behind him before Jack can raise his gun, is already answering.
'The Doctor has lived a long time. But in all his centuries, there are some things he hasn't yet learned.' Lyt grins, showing all his teeth. He turns his head and looks at his prisoner's arched throat. 'You need educating,' he tells the Doctor. 'Tell me, Jack - don't you think he has a beautiful neck?'
Jack charges him. Almost before he moves, he's blinded by the savage blue light - then he hits the wall. Ran right through them, which means - Jack turns hopelessly - they're gone. He stands there, staring at the empty space.
How is he going to tell Rose?

Lyt drops the Doctor on a metal floor. The Time Lord twists and sits up. 'Take off the blindfold, Lyt.'
'That would ruin the surprise.'
The Doctor snorts. 'Where’s the mystery? I know we’re still on the ship - I can feel the vibration of the engines.'
'That’s not the surprise,' says Lyt.
The Doctor hears the clank of a chain.
