So I've been finding those annoying xanga sites that keep stealing my icons, and I don't know if I should start locking my icon posts (making them exclusive/FO), or just keep them public. What do you think?( Read more... )

on one end, locking your diary gives you the option to remove a person as a friend and ban (from commenting) if you find out they're stealing. on the other hand, you're limited to having only 750 friends. if this diary was a community, you'd have the same options PLUS the ability to have a wider audience.

Well, if I did go exclusive, I'd just either lock all my posts here or stick to solely posting at ivorylaced

Personally, I don't see how much good it will do. I know people who have locked icon journals and some of their icons still make it on xanga, but it's up to you.

Yeah I agree with snowflakie, it's not gonna keep them stealing your icons. Even if you lock your posts, couldn't they just add you and then they could see your posts all over again? :\

Yes, they could but its less likely because you can control who can view them.

going FO is a cure all solution. if a huge number of people start joining, you can limit or close membership for a while, then open it back up when you see fit. you're an artist first, you offer tons of free stuff so why not limit how many people take what you have, especially if they're taking and not crediting.

...just an opinion.
