Owen had been in the shower when the door rang. He took the time to finish washing his hair and brushing his teeth, dried off and got back into his pajamas. He didn't have anywhere to be today and there was nothing more comfortable than wandering around in one's pajamas. With that down he walked out into the hall and then the living room.
Once there he looked at his dad and tilted his head. He was still in the same place so that means the person that came in had to be someone he trusted not to bust anything up....too badly. Walking into the kitchen, he was met with the sight of Derrick and a huge bag of ice cream.
"Ice cream....," was all he said as he grinned at Derrick.
He chuckled and smiled holding it up. "Bailey's ice cream. We're not allowed to drink alcohol? But this supposedly tastes just like it, without the actual alcohol in it." He explained.
"I've never tasted Baileys myself." He admitted. "But I like the ice cream. And I wasn't sure if you'd like it so I got... vanilla... chocolate... strawberry... and chocolate chip cookie dough." He pulled each container out and set it on the counter.
"I think I have it covered." He said, holding his hands out in front of the ice cream, as though asking each container to 'hold still'.
"No work today?" He asked, starting to put some of the stuff in the freezer to keep it from melting. "Which one do you want?" He asked so he wouldn't put the wrong ice cream up. "Day off?" He asked.
"Bailey's is pretty good stuff. Best in coffee," he smiled as he walked up to the counter and looked over the ice cream that Derrick had set out. The man must have raided the ice cream aisle. Not that Owen was complaining. He had a wicked sweet tooth for ice cream of all kinds.
He moved to across the kitchen and pulled a couple of bowls out of the cupboard. Pausing a moment, he walked to the door to the living room and looked at his dad ", hey dad, you want some ice cream?"
It was always good to ask everyone. Besides, the ice cream might help his father's throat a bit. There was a reason they gave the stuff to kids that had their tonsils out. T numbing factor helped wonders.
Digger gave him a thumbs up. He started to say 'yes' but it had come out as "hhhhhhhhh..." So he just kept his thumb up till his son saw it.
"I'll never really know? But now I'm wondering if I couldn't put a scoop of this in coffee?" He wondered, looking at the ice cream and pondering the possibilities. "We're allowed coffee. Lots of coffee. Lots and lots of coffee." He nodded.
"Just don't ask your dad to make it. You might never sleep again." He said with a small smile. "Ten hours afterward your standing there jittering... 'Can I have more, man? More? Where can I score more?'" He mimicked someone 'tweaking'.
He laughed. "Koan banned him from the coffee pot."
