On this day, September 11, 2008 we celebrate those whose lives were lost on this day 7 years ago in NY, in Washington & Shanksville, Pa. Do you remember what you were doing & where you were on this occasion? I remember I was asleep on the couch & awoke to a plane crashing through a high rise building on the news. I didn't realize for a few seconds

I was sitting on the 180 bus coming from the Mall of America heading to downtown Minneapolis just as I did each work day. The bus pulled up to the stop at 8th and the Nicollet Mall when a woman with headphones on shouted Oh My God. The whole bus looked to her and wondered why she was saying it. She said they just mentioned on the radio that a plane crashed into the Towers. The bus was dead silent with looks of huh? what? you can't be serious

I know, it just serves to remind those of us who were lucky enough to have been elsewhere on that fateful day that freedom really is "just another word for nothin' left to lose.'

I'm on the west coast so at that time it was still early for us. My husband and I were at home that morning and were watching the news. When we saw what was happening, we really didn't understand at first what was going on. The whole things was just so surreal and when we finally realized it, we were in shock the rest of the day.

I think shock was the mood of the day or should I say several days.

I already posted about 9/11 but I can't imagine being so far away from my parents on that day. I'm so glad you and your daughter had AT&T to close the physical gap on that fateful day.
