I just don't get it.

So, I'm on a few message boards full of pregnant women, and they are all obsessed with knowing the sex of their babies. They panic about whether or not the baby will "cooperate" during the ultrasound, they make up crap so their doctors will think they're at a higher risk and give them extra ultrasounds so they can find out sooner, and some of them ( Read more... )

I can see a few reasons for wanting to know, but the obsession these people have, and the things they think they'll gain from knowing, it just seems so bizarre to me ( ... )

I love thrift stores, too! I found it's the best place to get jeans when I need new ones because they're so expensive at stores, including Wal-Mart. I also enjoy getting my kids clothes there because they outgrow everything so fast.

I wish I wore an x-small. :( I can't seem to lose weight no matter how hard I try.

That's strange about the housing laws. I didn't know there was such a thing. Nikara is 5 and Kenney is 7 and Nikara HATES to sleep alone, so she always slept with Kenney in his room.

I wanted to know my kids' genders just because I was curious. Kenney was obviously a boy, and when it came time to find out Nikara's gender, the technician wasn't allowed to tell me because it was against their policy. But they're allowed to show you the genitals so you can see for yourself. It was hard to tell at first because it was a blur, but when the technician turned to look at something, it suddenly came in really clear for a split second and I saw she was a girl. I wanted to find out her gender mostly for Todd because he'd been really, really hoping for a little girl. He was thrilled with the news ( ... )

I had all of these thoughts when I was first told about it. I couldn't believe that they not only spent that much money on decorating a baby's room, but that they also had the audacity to sue the technician that told them the gender. Nothing is for certain, and those ultrasounds are sometimes hard to view in this area. People need to realize mistakes happen all the time. Unfortunately, some people like to profit from the honest mistakes others make.

I was doing radiograph and ultrasound work at the humane society low cost clinic. Which also pushes spay/neuter pretty heavily. One woman came in and asked me to tell her the gender of her bitch's pups. She got laughed out of the clinic and unfortunately, with dogs, it's impossible to tell because of developmental differences and the number that are in there. Go figure.

Sorry. I felt all left out. My ovaries are twitching and this is so not a good thing. I don't think.

Crazy. Sounds like another in a long line of back yard "breeders" who're trying to turn a profit off of their pets without even thinking about doing a tiny little bit of research first.
I mean, geez, if she at least had a tiny bit of common sense, she'd have asked a for-profit vet cinic. The humane society isn't the place to go for that. They're already underfunded and overloaded, and it's because of people who do crap like that. Ugh.

I used to do this thing at Geo when my ovaries were growling at me, I'd put my hands in front of my ovaries, make them all claw-like, and wiggle them at him and growl, sometimes pretty snarly and viciously.

People look at me funny sometimes. :)

*hugs*
