Morin's debriefing with Sir

Sir's debriefing with Morin had not been much better than Ivy's. He also felt he had not acquitted himself as well as he would have liked. But having more experience than Ivy, he wasn't so demoralized by it. When the villain had taken him from Ivy's belt, he was drained and dropped - wrong flavor.

"I presented myself to Ivy's companions and found in them stouter hearts than those of her mother's companions when she needed help. They did not hesitate to track the monster to it's lair and stage a rescue, in spite of overwhelming odds. The creature had taken Ivy to a minor earth node where it had bound her to a wall and sat feeding on her power. While it was thus strengthened, I was weakened both by the creatures attack and by the presence of the earth node. I did have enough strength to eventually break one of the chains that bound the unconscious Ivy to the wall. One of her companions worked the other free while the others kept the creature at bay. Her friend Rou did very well in the battle, finally causing the creature to flee.
When she awoke, I was once again a dagger at her side. I rely on your discretion as to whether your daughter should be made aware that I am anything more.”

“Sir,” Morin began “You have been a true friend to us since I first met you. You have fulfilled your pledge to me many times over. You have saved the lives of my wife and my child. My debt to you could never be repaid. Your identity is your secret and yours alone. I leave it to you to choose when or if to share it and with whom.”

The friends smiled at each other and clasped hands before Sir faded to mist which coalesced into the jeweled dagger with which Ivy was familiar.

(Here’s a stupid question. How does Sir stay “alive” in the Cat Realm with no human blood to satisfy his vampire appetite?)
