1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Said, "No," at work, and made it stick

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I make the same resolution every year. I never keep it.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries did you visit?
California, which to my East Coast self is a different country.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Time, and a lack of personal uncertainty. I don't see it happening, but, hey, I can dream.

7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
May 23, the day everything (potentially) changed.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I can count five ways in which I've matured.

9. What was your biggest failure?
I let down someone who mattered to me.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I have a bitch cold now, but other than that, nope.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
2008 fully loaded Mercury Mariner hybrid.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Barak Obama. Class act.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The Republican party, especially the recent defense of "Barak the Magic Negro."

14. Where did most of your money go?
Um... I suspect bourbon.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Nothing. Maybe the election.

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Can't name one.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner, but not by much.
iii. richer or poorer? About the same.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Contacted friends and family, worked out.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Dinking around on the intertubes.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Biting my tongue.

21. How will you be spending New Year's?
Dry. Don't ask.

22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
Yes.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Life.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope. Actually, I hated him last year, and don't care now.

26. What was the best book you read?
Randy Pausch's posthumous book, The Last Lecture. (shut up.)

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Bach. Finally.

28. What did you want and get?
A serious change in job.

29. What did you want and not get?
Time. Well, had it, and wasted it on the intertubes.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Iron Man.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Dinner. I'm not telling, but I'm closer to 50 than 40.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
My partner's work situation to be less...fuckedfraughtstressfuluncertain

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Finding the ground between suits and business casual.

34. What kept you sane?
My partner, and tesserae_, not to mention jacob_krash

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
As in want to have a drink with, or want to do? Toss up between Flannigan, Hewlett, and Luttrel.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Continued degradation of privacy rights. Yes, more than gay marriage.

37. Who did you miss?
My mother.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
My new contract employee.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
If you want to succeed, be available, be adaptable, and be affable. I have trouble with the last one, but I'm working on it.
