[Despite the warning over the journals, Walter can't help but be intrigued by the "butterflies" flying around and "pecking" at villagers. He sends out his teriques in a small, fairly-harmless form resembling the Tease in an "exploratory" mode ( Read more... )

butterflies should be nice things, like black teriques

[Fenimore is staying inside house 34, because she's not a lunatic. So she'll probably meet you there when you get back. ...Presumably the others are around somewhere and she'd probably be usually sticking around with them most of the time, but unless anyone wants to make this a three+-way thread, she'll probably be on her way to checking the door for the umpteenth time to make sure it's really, really shut.

She's also carrying a broom as though prepared to whack any Tease that sneak in. She did read Allen's guide and knows that a stabbing weapon is better, but she really doesn't want those things to get in knife range, even if it was the largest in the kitchen.

Long story short, Walter may be greeted by a very timidly approaching Fenimore clutching a broom bristles-side-up in both hands.]

It does. But it attacks people indiscriminately. [If he wanted to prove a point, he'd probably stick his hand in there to see what the Tease would do. Instead, he pushes the cage closer to Fenimore's face. There might be a good view of its teeth.]

I did read the--ah--! [She is going to be stumbling back and putting up her arms between her face and those teeth, even if it's in a cage.] Get that thing away from me!

Hmph. [Walter withdraws the cage, bringing it closer to himself.] I'm going to find something better to put it in.

[And off he goes towards the kitchen, teriques in tow.]

[After a moment more of wincing, she follows after him.] Walter! You can't be planning on keeping it in here! What if it escapes?

If it escapes, it'll escape into my room. Unless it can eat through doors. [And he had made sure to ask Allen about that.]

If you were going to your room, you passed it already. [...She extends her arm straight out to point at his door, as though he needed the guidance.] And if it escapes while you're out of your room and someone opens it without expecting it, they get it on their face.

I did say I was going to find something to put it in. [When he reaches the kitchen, he'll begin looking for an empty jar.]

[She's still watching him, but she's keeping her distance. Something to put it in, in the kitchen? Fenimore's thoughts reach back to catching more normal bugs back home....] Please tell me that you aren't going to try overturning a glass on it.

I can do that inside my room, if you're worried. I just need a jar and a lid.

...Walter, when I asked for you to tell me that you weren't going to try overturning a glass on it, the answer was supposed to be "of course not," not "don't worry, it'll be a jar, not a glass."

[As calmly as ever, now looking for a jar big enough for the Tease...] You don't have to be here, Fenimore.

[There's a pause, in which she looks shocked. She's probably misinterpreted what you meant.]

I'm not about to go outside!

[That reaction earns her a brief, mildly-confused look.]

...I didn't say you had to go outside. You don't have to hover around while I'm dealing with this thing. [Said "thing" was still flying at the cage. One would think it would tire or stop by now.]

And leave this thing somewhere inside? [She nervously edges even farther away from the cage than she was already.] Look at it! It's already trying to get out! It's not an indoor pet!
