Ryszard Kapuscinski. One of my favourite Polish journalists/ writers. A wonderful, warm person. One of the most brilliant minds of the last century...died of cancer only 74 years old. I remember meeting him after his lecture at Gdansk University. I asked him to sign one of his books for my Mum ,as Mother's Day was drawing near. He said to me then "

Well, I (still) haven't read anything by him, but I do remember that you have mentioned him to me before. Also I think he was in Stockholm last year, or at least fairly recently. He has also been translated to Esperanto, at least one of his books: I remember, because I was at the Esperanto Centre that day and someone came by looking for a copy of it to get it signed.
