I have just come home to a payslip, according to which I have passed through the tax threshold and actually started to pay incometax. This means £13.10 less money than expected this week - I hope the government spend it wisely and don't fritter it away on unjustified wars, destroying freedom of expression and lubricating the already obscenely rich

What does the tax threshold look like? Is there a gothic stone archway under which one has to pass, or is it made of that painted metal they use for filing cabinets and hidden deep in an office complex in the Midlands, attended by staff in suits on secondment from the Department for Becoming a Real Person?
