Goodbye Adult Swim

Mar 19, 2009 14:05

I've made the decision today to downgrade my cable to the local channels. I've thought long and hard about it and just concluded that I'm paying too much for only a few channels I actually watch. And with nothing at all to watch over the weekend. I will miss my Adult Swim at night when I've settled into my bed to sleep. It makes no sense to pay ( Read more... )

You really won't miss it. I keep mine to just the basic. You will be fine Dave!

Limited or Extended? I just have local channels. 2-29. I may even get rid of it completely and just buy the converter box so that I can get TBS at least.

I'm not sure. Comcast has 1-77 for $50/month. I don't get History and a couple other good ones anymore though.

you know, i've had the first season of LoG requested from the FUlton COunty library system for about 4 months now and the bastards won't just admit that it might be MIA. sigh.. clearly i need to get around to getting netflix...

we are often tempted to downgrade our cable to what you're doing too. for me, it's the bizar foods and no reservations i'll miss the most, follwed by all those house-flipping shows (i don't know why, i'd futarded like that). granted, if we did that then i could for sure afford the better netflix deals (one at a time won't work for us cos x is lazy about getting around to watching movies he checks out from the library - i'd never make any headway on our netflix queu with him).

If you upgrade Netflix one at a time with Unlimited Watch instantly, it's only $9 something a month. That's how I got hooked on LoG was Netflix watch instantly. they have the entire 3 series and the Christmas speical. Of course you just have to watch it from your computer. But you can by the box to view on your telly or if you have Xbox live then you can also.

Oh man, I forgot about HGTV. I watch those shows to get ideas on how to fix up my house. And I just remembered Animal Planet. You can probably watch Bizarre and No Reservations online, too.

the only issue is that x and i both loathe watching stuff on our pc (we have no laptop, and his laptop for school has only an rca output, which apparently is a bitch to find a chord that'll work to hook it up to our tv). and we don't have xbox - we're a plastation and atari 2600 household. :)

when we do get a laptop though, the cable will be out the door with the exception of local stations and we'll for sure have had netflix for a while by then.

When Stacey and I lost our cable a while back, I thought I would die!
I got over it by buying more dvds on Amazon :D

don't forget about hulu.com!

That's what I was thinking is that I could watch them on hulu or the websites. And I'll have more money to buy DVDs. Plus, I will have no more excuses to put off work that needs to be done around the house.

I will get over it. I need the money more than I need cable.
