Oktoberfest is the most amazing party I've ever been to. Too bad you missed it :( 3000 people in each of 10 "tents" that are built with beams that are 2 feet in diameter? Amazing.

I really enjoyed meeting Germans, too. I only knew a tiny bit of German, so it was nice they spoke English. On that same trip I went to Spain, too, and had the opposite experience. Hardly anyone spoke English except for tourists and expats. Luckily, I met people I could talk to everywhere, just no locals.
