I loved this film I ran out to get the book, thinking the usual idea would hold true (the book is always better then the flm ). The book was just awful, the truly make a silk purse from a sows ear.

Yeah, I was about to say, this is one of the few occasions where the movie is better than the book. They totally shifted the focus of the story. Also, the visuals were so stunning.

I'm surprised they paid to use the title. The only thing they took was " what becomes of a world absent the laughter of children "

Well it wasn't a unique idea, but they also took a lot of the tone. The despair and collapse of society with no hopes for the future and the government trying to clamp down on it all.

This movie is perfect. I finally saw it in HD-DVD not too long ago, and it was like seeing it for the first time all over again.

Great stills, thank you.

While I enjoyed the movie, I hated it also because I read the book before I saw it. I didn't understand the need to change around just who was sterile, and to make the only woman in the world pregnant a different race. It felt rather forced to me and I felt it deviated quite alot, but then again, I'm a purist when it comes to books becoming movies.

However, the movie as a stand alone was beautiful.
