Kieran's Top Surgery Fund
Hey there. Thanks for taking a moment to check out this page and my fund.
My name's Kieran and I'm a transgender male who is looking to get some help with funds needed to have top surgery. While my employer is amazing and our insurance will pay for 80% of the surgery cost, the remaining 20% must be paid by August 1st in order for me to keep my scheduled surgery date at the end of January.
I've been saving for a while and was nearly there this past December when I developed a seizure disorder. I was ordered off of work in January until we could get my seizures under control. I'm just now getting ready to return to work, but with having been out so long I drained my savings in order to cover some month-to-month expenses and it's going to take me far longer than August 1st to come up with the required funds.
That's where this page comes in. I'm hoping you'll be able to help me so that I can still have the surgery I'd been saving for nearly two years to have.
Here's what the $4,000 would cover:
-$3,000 for my part of the surgery. (It's $15,000 total, $3000 is my portion not covered by insurance.)
-$600 for the required pre-surgery visit, lab work, and testing, as well as post-surgery lab work and testing. (Not covered by insurance.)
-$400 for a round trip plane ticket for my sister to fly in to help me recover. (It's required that I not be alone for the week following surgery and I don't really have anyone local that can help with this.)
If by some chance more than $4,000 is donated, any extra funds received will be donated to charities that help support LBGTQ+ youth. Specifically The Trevor Project and the True Colors fund.
