Surgery Fund Update
I thought I'd post my most recent update about my surgery quest here. I'm super excited because I managed to find a way to cut the cost in half, and am now only $500 away from being able to book the surgery! \o/
You guys were amazing helping me raise funds in the first round. Unfortunately, I didn't raise enough money to keep my surgery date with the surgeon I had originally selected. However, this has actually ended up working in my favour.
I found a new surgeon who is awesome, and available at half the price. He's newer to trans* patients but his overall rating is high and he's highly recommended by my general physician. With that backing, I'm willing to give him a go. (Jeffrey Kyllo, M.D. if you're in the mood to Google.) Now, instead of $3,000 for the surgery I only need $1,500! \o/
I've revised my goal to $2,000, which includes the cost for a plane ticket for my sister to come babysit me post-surgery. I'm headed back to work late next month so hopefully I can pull off the funds needed to still do this in late January/early February. But if you wouldn't mind spreading the word I would gladly accept any additional help. Any funds raised that I don't end up needing I'll be donating to trans* supporting charities.
