Mouring in Lakeview...

Sep 21, 2005 19:40

The Times-Picayune suggested in its Saturday edition that anyone wishing to go back and see their homes should bring the following...

A. A box of Kleenex
B. A shoulder to cry on.

I had neither.

This is my account of the aftermath of Katrina and what I saw when I entered Nola and my dear neighborhood of Lakeview.

RIP sweet home...read and see more here )

Tough, ain't it? To see these material relics of your life destroyed... be glad you have your life, and rebuild your domain in a safer place. Carry the memories of what you once had and know that this event will shape the rest of your life if you allow it to. My house didn't even have a front door left standing. I'm never returning to that cursed city. I have my life, and I'm taking it and running as far away as I can.

Our front door was gone as well. It's very spooky. I'm so sorry for your loss as well. Where will you be relocating to?
