Oh noooo!!!

The elevator apparently caught on fire. The fire alarm went off and me and the dean just looked at each other and he said "Is this real?" And I said, "well, I didn't get any email saying they were testing them." So he said "Well, I'm gonna bugger off then." So we grabbed our coats and went outside with everyone else. Turns out the elevator right ( Read more... )

It's especially fun when there is 2 feet of snow outside you need to climb over a snowbank to get to your designated emergency waiting area. :o)

Ugh, I know that smell. There was an electrical fire in my dorm. Of course it was late at night in January so a bunch of people just rode the buses around campus to stay warm until we could go back in.

Don't you just love when this stuff happens in the dead of winter? I had to climb over a snowbank to get to where I was supposed to be.

The stench was foul. It's gone now though, thankfully.

You are very lucky the stench is gone. I too was pretty lucky since I was on the other side of the building, but some of my teammates were just a few floors above the fire and the smoke and soot and nastiness came straight up the vents in the bathroom getting all over their stuff and stinking up their rooms.
At least we didn't have much snow at the time. but plenty of people in pjs and barefeet in near subzero weather with bad wind. My roommate and I told our RA to buzz off we were putting on shoes and coats. It is worth noting we had no smoke or sense it was real at that point, not until we got from the 10th floor to around the 5th floor in the stairwell did people realize it wasn't a prank.
At least it broke up your day a little.

I'm glad I had my boots and coat on.

It was an interesting diversion for a while. I got to socialize out in the fresh air for a bit.

We weren't sure if it was real or not, because they are always testing the alarms here. But we figured if there was no announcement then we should probably leave. Some people ignored it. They are lucky it wasn't anything major.
