I thought it would be interesting to make a list of films, you think would most definitely be on a film students syllabus more than once throughout their university/college career.

generally & thankfully, film classes are done by topic or region. :) so I can prolly list at least 100 i've seen in film classes at college (and that was a liberal arts school that had a few film classes... not at a school that offers a film major).

I do wish, looking back, I would have saved all my sillabi so I can rewatch some of the films. Oy yoy yoy.

Un Chien andalou was a piece of crap.

yeah Un Chien Andalou was a bit overhyped, i wished the eye slitting was longer than 2 seconds
but i'd rather watch that than any Stan Brakhage film

Believe it or not, after two years of film school I actually HAVE watched all of these in class :P Actually, except the Man Ray film I think.

Just to add - Singin' In The Rain in three different courses, Rear Window in two, Meshes of the Afternoon in two, Potemkin in two or three, and the Lumiere Bros. films in four. School is very repetitive :P
