So my brother is in a band called Sleeps in Ashes. silvrayn and I went to see them last Saturday.

They rock.

In order to join their group, I had to join MySpace and see what all the fuss is about.

(Yeah, I know. MySpace is old, and I feel like zebe picking up Halo 2 a year after it came out ( Read more... )

I joined MySpace for similar reasons(my brother had a band on there and my sister had an online shrine to Jason Mraz). I was amazed to see a lot of the bozos I graduated with on there. I think that MySpace is primarily used by bands who want to develop some sort of interweb fan base. Have you gotten any messages from those bands yet? They go something like this: "We see you like Ratt too! You should totally check us out. Listen to our tracks..and don't forget to friend us! DURP!"

don't talk shit about bands on myspace... my band is on myspace. in order to get clubs to book your band for a show, they need to easily check out how you sound and most even recommend using myspace, as it is free and easy. with that, you should check out the bands on there... the bigger ones anyway. the twin cities has a lot of really good local bands like aberrance and staija... they're good.

Myspace is not a professional website. It's fine if you're just looking for something "cheap and easy", as it gives you a lot of neat features, but it's also limiting at the same time.

All you need to do is know a professional website designer (hint - you do) and know someone with a fat internet pipe (hint - I do) and the next thing you know you have a good website.

Regardless, the funniest part about all of this is that one of my friends saw Ratt play at Rockfest some years ago, and the lead singer got so drunk that he fell off the stage and broke several bones in his body.

As retribution for that low blow about Halo 2, I demand that you add me to your myspace friends.

I too am in total agreement about the myspace people / high school bit. I've been tempted to delete my listing on the alumni pages there. Most of the people aren't on there or have moved though.
