New MacBook!

May 16, 2006 13:36

Okay, all you Apple fans, I just ordered a brand new MacBook (White, 2ghz, SuperDrive, 1GB ram/100GB hdd) from the online Apple Store.

I have been waiting for Apple to release an Intel laptop with a sub-15" screen for a year, and finally they come through. Thanks, starrynixon, ryanluvscandy, zebe, and thebig0 for (indirectly or directly) contributing to the release of this sweet ( Read more... )

Yes, I'm sure it'd go over great.

Customer: "Hi, I'm interested in the new Ralph Lauren fragrances."
Clerk: "What? You'd actually buy a Ralph Lauren fragrance?"
Customer: "Well, yes, they're always great."
Clerk: "Well, I think you maybe should take your time. You know, think it over. Maybe it's not right for you."
Customer: "Fine, jerk, I'll go buy Ralph Laurin from the street vendor over there."

Seriously. I am suspicious that he is not a double-agent for Microsoft and is just trying to kill Apple from the inside. :)

I gets no props... Am sad. :(

Seriously, though, my team and I busted our ass on those... I hope you love it. I'm pimping them onto my parents and friends, and should have at least two ordered soon. Congratulations.

Jesus, I forgot. :)

I'll add your props.

Trust me, I am more excited about this computer purchase than I have ever been before. And I've bought (or been a part of buying) at least 15 Macs in the past 20 years.

I'll be sure to post what I think of it. Right now, though, I think it's absolutely one of the best things Apple has released in a long, long time. The price - $1099 - actually is lower than anything offered by Dell.

Amazing.

Awesome, thanks for the props. I was only lightly teasing, but nice to be recognized.

Shocking that the Apple Store choad would have that attitude. There's one that's slipped through the cracks. Get that boy some kool-aid! Or get rid of him. There are enough folks around that would take the wages to sell Apple products and do it with a smile. I mean, when you're selling something, it's your JOB to make it look like the best thing evar.

There's an old stigma about not buying the first of any new Apple product line. It's a hard habit to break, but honestly, I have one of the Macbook Pros released in January and if I didn't, I'd buy a 17" MacBook Pro just for the screen size. My 15" MBP is a great machine, whether booted into OS X or Windows XP.

However, the MacBook is an awesome lil' beast. I really feel great about this product. It's gonna sell a lot, and the buyers are going to love them. My mom already called me wanting to know when I can get one at a discount, and I think she might hurry up and pay full price to get one ASAP

Thanks for the props, yo. Glad you bought a MacBook, they are sweet little machines.

As for tard boy at the store, I can't believe he would say that. As someone who actually worked on them, I bought the first of the first gen Intel Macs, the iMac 20", and I love mine (got it in January, so I've had it for months). He's probably some hipster who thinks it's cool to act like that.

As much as I complain about the whining noise, Apple's core duo systems are really great. Such a huge difference over the PowerPC G4 laptops. With all universal binaries, the machine is as fast as my dual G5. Even when Rosetta is invoked, it still blows the doors off my 1GHz PowerBook.
