Didn't we try to play this one time? It seems awfully familiar. ISTR I had a heck of a time figuring out basic how-the-hell-do-I-get-in-a-ship things. ^_^;;
I'm pretty sure that we didn't play this one. I remember playing the UT 2004 demo, but we didn't have the full version at the time, and hence not the Air Buccaneers mod.
Despite what the write-up says, the interface seems pretty easy to me. The perspective is always in first person, and you manipulate things with one of the 'weapons', usually the 'empty hands'. Balloons are generally at their most efficient with three people (or two per cannon, plus one for steering), although the bots are pretty good at shooting if you don't mind doing the steering. There is a smart bot extension in the mod website's forum that greatly improves them for other tasks (eg: boarding), albeit that they don't handle some maps well.
