Goggle-covered blue eyes opened to stare up at clear blue sky. Wait... when did it become daytime? Blinking a few times, Matt found himself overwhelmed with questions that would go unanswered, for now. For now, he decided to focus on only a few questions: Where was 'here', how did he get 'here', was Mello near, and ... where were his cigarettes? After searching himself a moment, a hidden frown appeared on his face. Not only was he stranded in a strange place, he was stranded in a strange place with no cigarettes. Staring up at the sky a little more, almost in a confusion-induced daze, Matt began formulating a plan for action. His thoughts, however, were quickly interrupted when the brunette suddenly heard a beeping sound. Glancing downward, he spotted an unfamiliar object laying on his chest. After lifting his eyebrows in slight curiosity, Matt picked the device up and moved to a sitting position. Turning, so that he had one foot on the ground and part of his back was being supported by the bench, Matt began toying with the device. Within minutes, he had it pretty much figured out. The side of his mouth twitched in amusement at how easy it was to work the device. Of course, there were a ton of things he had yet to figure out; however, a majority of things such as hacking into the somewhat private entries made by unknown people were almost too easy for him. Deciding that he should probably make his presence known, Matt quickly made made an entry.
While he waited for a response, Matt decided to look around. He discovered that the one that made this town, apparently... liked time. Or was simply flat-out obsessed with it. Either way, the young man found it a little more than disturbing. After nearly an hour of exploring the entire park area, someone finally replied to Matt's entry. Fortunately for Matt, that someone just so happened to be Mello. After breathing a sigh of relief, Matt responded.
Mello had been talking to Matt through the communication device from a bench outside a few shops. He shut the device and stood up, he'd tried to memorize where things were here in the short time he'd spent here. He had a basic idea of where the park was at least and with that information he'd memorized, he walked towards the park. it'd probably only take him a few minutes tops if he was correct.
Closing the device and pocketing it, the brunette stood and looked around. Matt really did not enjoy being out here, but he had figured it would be best to pretty much stay in one spot, until he learned more about this place. Of course, the only thing keeping him there, now, was the fact that Mello had told him not to go anywhere else.
Memory hadn't failed him, the park came into view. Mello walked into the park, keeping an eye out for Matt. Really, it would have made sense to ask Matt to describe exactly where he was in the park, but Mello knew he'd stay exactly where he was because he had told him to. Walking a little further into the park, he spotted a familiar figure, Matt. He raised a hand in a 'hello' gesture, as he approached him.
He had to admit that it was a relief to see a familiar face. That was pretty much the only comfort he had been granted in this place (of course, there _was_ the device he had been using... that was a sort of comfort, as well). Not being a person of many words, Matt gave a silent nod, in response to the hand gesture.
It was good to have both Matt and L here. It'd be a good way to investigate this killer, he didn't think there was any one else out there who would be capable enough to think at his level, as arrogant as that sounded. He bit a chunk off of his chocolate bar and gave Matt a half smile. "It's probably easier for us to discuss this place face to face" Mello said, he was a little suspicious of the devices and their level of security. He wouldn't want to be giving away too much information to Zeit, if he could read the entries.
Matt, too, had considered the security of the device. However, even he had yet to fully inspect the object in question. Nodding once more in response to Mello's words, Matt spoke in a calm tone, "The chances of him spying on us through the device are definitely high..."
Mello knew Matt would understand what he was getting at without having to go into too much detail. "That was my thoughts exactly" Mello responded. "It's better to be cautious of the device until we know for sure it's safe" And that's where Matt came into it. Mello knew that once they were settled that Matt would be able to inspect the device properly.
The brunette listened closely, as though paying close attention to each and every word. Once again, Matt understood where Mello was going with this. He gave yet another nod and continued to speak in a calm tone, "Understood."
"It's probably a good idea for us both to share a place together here" Mello added, he didn't need to ask if it was ok, he knew that Matt would agree. Taking another large bite of the chocolate bar, he made a thoughtful face. "I'm staying in a large apartment room at the moment"
He nodded in agreement to the words, understanding Mello's reasons for that. It would be more of a convenience, considering they were both outsiders living in some strange town... with the risk of a killer targeting them at any time, none-the-less. Matt then gave a slightly thoughtful expression, "Do you know where L is staying?"
