I've actually heard of this before, it was on an episode of This American Life, which is a radio show on NPR that basically just has Americans telling their stories. There was a woman telling about an orphan from another country (I think it was Romania) who had spent most of his childhood in a crib without really being cared for by an adult parent figure. The kids in the Romanian orphanage hadn't been abused, they were fed enough and allowed to talk to each other and stuff, but it wasn't like having a parent that played with you and nurtured you

I know, I think it's completely despicable; thanks so much for re-posting it, it's vital that people realise how inhumane and sick it is. It's hard to put into words how disgusting this 'therapy' truly is.
