Battle Royale is one of those movies that you can't help but watch, if only for the freaky factor. The book and manga are also equally, if not more, creepy.
Unfortunately I haven't finished either of those. I've browsed through the manga back when I worked at a store that sold them, though never had time to actually finish them. (my slackerdom has limits. ^_~ )
And the book I own. I was probably a third of the way in before I got distracted, and or gored out. I mean the movie doesn't even really touch on what was done to the main character's foster mom... and of course reading the sickening descriptions of the deaths is somehow harder to stomach, than seeing a visual slightly toned down version of those scenes.
But yeah, the first time a friend sat me down to watch that film.. I honestly believe a part of my innocence died. I kept thinking, "If I was in that situation, what would I do? How soon would I die? ... Because I couldn't really see myself making it to the end."

I always figured I'd be like one of the lighthouse girls. All happy to stick with my friends, but when shit goes down, I'd be the first to die. Or pass out, even. Seriously, I passed out in eleventh-grade human biology when people started to just talk about blood.
